Welcome to the Travel Language Culture Network Club

Are you studying English in Canada and need some friendly assistance? Do you need help with your travel plans, housing, shopping or just making new friends that you can study with? The Travel Language Culture Network Club can help you.

The Travel Language Culture Network Club organizes special student prices, events, activities, educational programs and assists with information about schools, travel, immigration, employment, shopping, homestay and professional services.

TLC information is available to Canadian and international language students and teachers, homestay providers and language education suppliers.

Language Exchanges

The Network Club organizes ESL English language exchanges, fun activities and seminars for ESL English and international students, language students, new Canadians, visitors to Canada, student interns and volunteers to practice English and international language skills, meet new friends and enjoy life in Toronto, Canada.

Thanks and congratulations go to the English volunteers and contributors. Our thanks to Ric who presented "How to use ESL English language tutors". Our thanks to Lorraine who assisted with the reception and presented terms, information and demonstrated Canadian dining, cutlery, customs, procedures and etiquette.

Our thanks to Varia, Cintia and Maria who brought and demonstrated the exciting Latin dances. The English language exchange room became the site for Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, German, English exchanges and member surveys for future events and activities.

Travel Language Culture Network Club Internships

The TLC Club provides Canadian work experience internships for students. Students can use the registration form to apply. Several of the ESL in Canada/TLC interns have already enjoyed free travel trips as part of their internship.

TLC Network Club Shopping Recommendations and Discounts

The Network Club will organize special member group prices, special events and activities to help provide both fun and educational programs. Network Club recommendations will assist with schools, travel, immigration, employment, shopping, homestay and professional services.

The TLC Network Club will publish the shopping recommendations and discounts based on their on-site inspections, research, analysis, any expert industry evaluations and industry comparisons. We will try to establish a fair and open criteria from the consumer point of view.

2010 Toronto English Plus Summer Camp

The 2010 Toronto English Plus Summer Camp will operate in July to August.

ESL in Canada has made arrangements for special ESL English classes to operate at some of the attractions and events to supplement the in-class English school lessons.

This 2010 Toronto English Plus Summer Camp program is open to schools, international groups, companies, youth organizations and tour leaders who wish to travel to Canada with their students.

Participants can choose programs from 1 to 8 weeks. The listed planned events can be switched or altered to accommodate bad weather or to attend extra special events.

Instruction, activity and tour days can vary from 12 to 14 hours.

Dorm rooms are available, singles, doubles, and quads

Meals can be supplied at the student dormitory

We require six students to operate a class

Week 1 July 4 to July 11

Toronto's CN Tower is celebrating 30 years as the Worlds Tallest Free-Standing Structure. About 2 million visitors soar to the top of the Towers incredible 1,815 feet (553.3 meters, or 181 stories) each year. Recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers along with the Panama Canal and Golden Gate bridge, the Towers record has gone unchallenged. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking view from three observation levels, as well as dining at the award-winning 360 restaurant ? which boasts the worlds highest wine cellar. The CN Tower was opened to the public on June 26, 1976 after 40 months of construction

Week 2 July 11 to July 18

Indy Toronto July 16, 2010 to July 18, The IndyCar Series stops in Toronto for the Honda Indy Toronto where the Indianapolis 500 stars and cars compete on the exciting street circuit at Exhibition Place. In addition to a full slate of racing action, the event weekend will also feature plenty of entertainment options off the track, including concerts, vehicle displays and an interactive area that will offer something for the whole family.

Week 3 July 18 to July 25

University of Toronto Walking Tour. Walking tours on the St. George campus depart from the Nona Macdonald Visitors Centre, located at 25 King's College Circle.

Hockey Hall of Fame Tour - Much more than simply a standard sports museum, the Hall offers a vibrant, entertaining and interactive journey. The world's most comprehensive collection of hockey artifacts, displays and memorabilia with state-of-the-art exhibitory and interactive games. Try and stop the pucks of Messier and Gretzky or fire real pucks against a life sized computer-simulated goalie. Have your picture taken with the Stanley Cup.

Week 4 July 25 to Aug 1

Dinosaurs Alive is the largest display of animated, life-size dinosaurs in the world, only at the Toronto Zoo. Get up close and personal with sixteen moving, roaring and startlingly realistic dinosaurs, featuring such prehistoric playmates as Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops and many others, complete with authentic sounds and special effects. The Toronto Zoo is divided into geographic regions, the 710 acres feature more than 5,000 animals in their natural environments. The award winning African Savanna, New Great Barrier Reef, and the award-winning Gorilla Rainforest, Eurasia outdoor exhibits, home to the Prezwalski foals, Snow leopard and Siberian tiger cubs, and Kids Zoo, Splash Island and Waterside Theatre.

Week 6 August 8 to August 15

Harry Potter: The Exhibition - Enter a world of magic and wonder with an up close behind-the-scenes look at the Harry Potter films. Immerse yourself in the world of Harry Potter by trying on the Sorting Hat, pulling a Mandrake from its pot in the Herbology vignette, and playing a game of Quidditch as you experience elaborate settings such as the Gryffindor common room, Hagrid's hut and the Great Hall. You'll also come upon authentic artifacts from the movies - including Harry's wand and glasses, the Marauders' Map, Professor Dumbledore's robe and more! The Gardiner Museum is the only museum in Canada entirely devoted to ceramics. Whether your interest is in contemporary work like Picasso?s Large Vase with Veiled Women, Maiolica dishes from the Italian Renaissance or 18th century European tea services, the museum has something that will interest you. The collection, which exceeds 2900 pieces, is often described as a ?jewel box of ceramic treasures.

The award-winning Harbourfront Centre is an innovative, non-profit cultural organization which provides world-renowned programming in the arts and culture and is the site of art galleries, theatres, craft boutiques restaurants, offices, hotels and marinas fronted by a waterside promenade. The Centre encompasses several venues on a 10 acre site in the heart of Toronto's waterfront.

Week 7 August 15 to August 22

The Canadian National Exhibition. There are a thousand things to see and do: the International Marketplace; the Coliseum's horse shows; the Midway; the Food Building; the Horticultural Building; the Automotive Building; the petting zoo; the sports complex; and much more!!! My favorite Toronto annual event is the Canadian National Exhibition held each summer.

Art Gallery Tours of Toronto. Art Gallery of Ontario Gallery: Tours, Exhibits and Courses Family Programs: Off the Wall! For Kids Pop Photography: Objects in Everyday Life 1842-1969. Tom Thomson: More than 140 of the artists oil sketches, paintings and works on paper, along with works by his contemporaries.

Week 8 August 22 to August 29

Ancient Peru Unearthed: Golden Treasures of a Lost Civilization. The mysteries of the pre-Incan Sicán culture are revealed through a collection of elaborately crafted objects excavated from an undisturbed gold-filled tomb in the Batan Grande site on the northern coast of Peru. The tomb was uncovered by archaeologists in the 1990s. Over 100 artifacts will be on display, including gold crowns, elaborate headdresses, masks and jewelry, as well as pottery and metal objects.
